Visitors after a spot of relaxation can peruse the vast assortment of reading material on hand. Make yourself comfortable on the patio and just enjoy the view and the tranquil montane setting.
Game Drives
Enjoy high altitude bespoke game drives in either an open or closed 4x4 vehicle. For those who like to greet the dawn, there is nothing nicer than watching the sun creep up over the horizon while the birds herald the day with their song, and you nurse a cup of piping hot coffee. If you’re not a morning person, why not take your game drive at sunset while enjoying a “sundowner” as the sinking sun sets the skies ablaze and melts into the skyline. Whatever your preference, Trent – your host, will be on hand with his wealth of knowledge of the region, and its flora and fauna, to help you identify the many sights you may see. The views from Mount Anderson and the beauty of the surroundings make for a magical experience.
Mountain Biking
Mount Anderson reserve offers some of the best single-track mountain bike riding in South Africa, and it’s extremely popular with mountain bike enthusiasts. With its rugged terrain, valleys with crystal clear streams, steep inclines weaving up to alpine heights and down forested paths, along dramatic quartzite escarpments and over rocky crescents, bikers are guaranteed a thrilling ride. Your guide, Trent, is a passionate mountain-biker and a specialist field guide due to his intimate knowledge of the property and trails. He will tailor a trip over one or many days, to suit you or your cycle group’s requirements, ensuring an extraordinary biking holiday experience.
Fishing
In the Mount Anderson Catchment Reserve, much of the focus is on water quality and the importance of preserving water catchment areas. As a welcome result, there is outstanding fishing available on the property. The 24 weirs, large lake and long river catchments provide fantastic opportunities for fishing for the strong indiginous fish species commonly known as 'Yellow Gold', while the quality and diversity of fishing ensures that all levels of fishermen – from beginner to the more experienced – are accommodated. High quality fly-fishing rods and reels are available at Mount Anderson.
"Fly-fishing is a way of life that infiltrates your whole thought process. It provides an escape into another world. Water is a medium with which man has an affinity. Water is the very reason for our existence yet we can only speculate on what is happening with life below the surface. This is what makes fly-fishing such a challenge and continual learning process." Bill Mincher (FOSAF), Johannesburg, October 2000.
