Mount Anderson Water Reserve is managed by Trent Sinclair and assisted by his wife Monica. Trent joined the MalaMala, Rattray Reserves Group in 1991 as a ranger. For the next six years he spent time at all MalaMala’s camps, including a spell as manager of “Old Harry’s Camp”. Together with Monica, he then transferred to Mount Anderson in 1997, and has been managing the catchment reserve ever since.
Trent’s job is multi-faceted. He manages the reserve, which includes taking care of the firebreaks, road maintenance, wildlife and river ecology management, as well as ensuring the eradication of exotic vegetation. He is also Mount Anderson’s host and guide, arranging and overseeing game drives, mountain biking excursions, fly-fishing, and cultural and horse trails. In his spare time, Trent is passionate about fly-fishing, and is an avid mountain biker and history aficionado.
Monica Sinclair was born in Switzerland and her family immigrated to South Africa when she was a toddler, but the family retained strong Swiss standards and links with their home country. She joined the tourism industry after leaving school, working in Cape Town and Namibia as a member of the front office and in the catering section of various establishments. She joined the MalaMala Group in 1991. Through the years Monica worked at all Mala Mala’s camps – as receptionist, caterer and housekeeper.
Monica manages the catering at Mount Anderson, and takes care of all Golden Cottage’s logistical needs. Cooking is Monica’s passion, and “cheffing” and catering are in her blood. She loves the outdoors and keeps fit by cycling. She is also a qualified Pilates instructor and very happy to give classes for Mount Anderson guests.
